Decide this rule before importing. It usually makes sense to keep your own verified details and not to treat missing import values as deletion instructions. Test the field mapping with a copy and check your system’s preview.
Export
Before a real import, check how your application handles the export fields. The fictitious sample file helps you test delimiters, umlauts and text columns. CSV is the standard format; XLSX, JSON and custom columns are agreed before delivery. A direct integration with a particular CRM is not guaranteed.
File structure
Each row is a business, each column a data item. The structure is the same for all industries, so you can combine several exports or import them into the same CRM template.
| Column in the CSV | Label | Content |
|---|---|---|
firmenname | Company name | name or registered company name as given in the source, including the legal form suffix. |
rechtsform | Legal form | for example GmbH, FlexCo, AG, OG, KG, e.U. (registered sole trader), sole proprietorship, association or cooperative, where the source shows it. |
firmenbuchgericht | Companies register court | regional court (Landesgericht) or Commercial Court Vienna as stated in the legal notice; empty for businesses without a Firmenbuch entry. |
firmenbuchnummer | Companies register number | FN with check letter (e.g. FN 123456a), where the business publishes it. |
uid_nummer | VAT ID | VAT identification number (ATU…), only if the business publishes it. |
strasse | Street and number | business address as given in the source. |
plz | Postcode | four-digit postcode (PLZ), stored as text. |
ort | Town | municipality or locality of the business address. |
bundesland | Federal state | one of the 9 federal states, assigned via the postcode (not derived from its first digit); the main filter for a regional selection. |
bezirk | District | political district or statutory city for a finer regional selection. |
branche | Industry | assignment to one of the 21 firmdat.at industries. |
oenace_code | ÖNACE code | economic activity under ÖNACE 2008, where it can be derived from the source. |
telefon | Phone | publicly listed business number in international format (+43 …). |
email | publicly listed general business address as given in the source; a data field for CRM and matching, not a consent to advertising. | |
website | Website | address of the company website including the protocol. |
An empty field means the information was not available in the sources. We never fill it with assumed values. As of 3 November 2026, all records come from Overture Maps: legal form, industry and ÖNACE code are not yet filled in the database, and the court of registration, register number and VAT number will only come with the planned source of legal notices and disclosures. The quote states which fields your selection contains.
Import guide
plz, telefon, firmenbuchnummer and uid_nummer in particular as text. Before loading, check a phone number with +43 and a companies register number with its check letter.A large file may be of little use for your purpose if a field you need is often missing. Compare the agreed required fields and the confirmed selection size. The database status page explains what the contact figures say and what they leave open.

The following rows are sample data. The businesses in the table and in the sample file are entirely fictitious so that you can see the structure. Companies register numbers, VAT IDs and phone numbers are deliberately invalid, and the email addresses end in the reserved domain .example. This is neither a real extract nor a list of contacts to approach.

In a real export, every row contains all 15 columns where the information is available. The column names in the CSV stay German.

FAQ

An identical or similar name alone is not enough. Use the companies register number or VAT ID where available, plus address information. The GISA number identifies a trade licence, not a business. The export does not guarantee a universally complete key.
Do not open the file by double-clicking, otherwise Excel may display umlauts incorrectly and read phone numbers with a leading plus as a formula or number.
In an empty workbook choose Data › From Text/CSV, set the file origin to Unicode (UTF-8) and the delimiter to semicolon. Set the postcode, phone, companies register number and VAT ID columns to text and confirm with Load. LibreOffice Calc opens the import dialogue automatically.
We deliver CSV in UTF-8 with BOM, semicolons as delimiters and CRLF line endings. Excel and LibreOffice recognise this combination reliably. If your application expects commas or tabs, we prepare the file accordingly.
The published figures are as of 3 November 2026; the records come from the initial load from Overture Maps on 18 October 2026. We state the data status of your selection with every quote. The date an export is created is not the date each individual contact was checked.
We do not guarantee a fixed update interval for all sources. Details are on the data sources and methodology page.
Yes. By default we deliver all 15 columns; on request you receive a file with only the fields you need for your CRM or postal mailing. Records without a complete address or without a website can also be excluded.
Not without the recipients’ prior consent. Under § 174(3) TKG 2021, marketing emails in Austria are not allowed without consent, also towards businesses. The email column is for identifying and maintaining business contacts, for example in your CRM, not for sending marketing.
That depends on industry, region and filters. A whole industry in Austria fits into one Excel worksheet (limit 1,048,576 rows); on request we split very large selections by federal state or deliver them as JSON.
We state the size after filters, price and data status before you order.
